Review Hotel Halaris, Syros Island

Halaris Hotel, Syros Island

Syros is one of the most beautiful islands of the Cyclades and became one of the destinations for the summer.
I stayed in the Halaris Hotel (I booked through booking.com ) 4 nights (60 euros per room /day) in mid-August, and the price was excellent for the dates. You can find them on their page in the internet https://hotelhalaris.gr/

Presentation:

Respecting the glamour that is exuded by the restored neoclassical building which houses the Halaris Hotel, the owner family has tried to give a stately air in the hotel.

Common areas

On the ground floor, you will find the reception, lounge, and dining room as well as the elevator (with music) for your service in the two levels that feature.
The corridors have decorated in the style of an old-fashioned mansion with gold details on the furniture and the mirrors.

There is an additional meeting space for various events.

Room

As you coming into the double room with a balcony and a view of the busy street, there is a large mirror with a table for your items and a smaller one for the suitcase. A sunny, pretty clean and with simple decoration room.

Each room has a tv, air conditioning, wi-fi, a fridge, a wardrobe and a hairdryer in the bathroom. (ours’ was quite small, and it had a sliding door.)

  • Note 1: Each room has an autonomous water heater.
  • Note 2: Apart from the shutters, there are two pairs of doors with a gap between them (apparently the latter was added to the restoration) that serve as insulation for the noise from the street at peak hours. Fortunately, because all rooms are high-ceilinged, you don’t get warmed at night, and you needn’t open it.
Amenities

• If check-out has been made, but it is difficult to transport your luggage around the island until you leave, you can ask at the reception to place them in the particular storage area until you desire them.
• Bonus: The hotel has rooms adapted for persons with special needs, and I found it is quite sensitive to this. In fact, at that time, I had a moving problem, and the staff was helpful and more than willing to serve me.

Staff

The owners and the staff were extremely polite and supplied us with excellent information about the places we could go or have lunch.

Breakfast

Breakfast was a small buffet with a basic breakfast. However, a couple of local flavors and a homemade cake give you something extra. I would characterize it as simple and satisfactory. (unfortunately, I don’t have a photo)

Location – Access

The hotel is located near the bus stop, and you have access to shops, cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, bank, and pharmacies, as well as need just a 10-minute walk from the port to find it. Unfortunately, it is difficult for parking as the road in front of the entrance is quite narrow and there is not enough space.
