Each country has its tradition and its unique flavors.
So, Scotland’s gastronomy couldn’t be missing from a visit to Edinburgh! If you are going to visit and try out new cuisines, then you can skip the following.
.
- Haggis
If someone wants to say that sample Scottish cuisine and at the same time be proud of having a strong stomach, then this is the opportunity.Offal of sheep in the form of minced meat cooked for 3 hours in the stomach of the animal in the company of salt, spices, onion, and suet.To confess you the truth I haven’t tried it in the typical format as I have a sensitive stomach. However, I tasted the potato chips with haggis’ flavor, and it was delicious.
- Scotch Pie
Scotch pie or mince pie with double crust and a filling of minced lamb or other meat. From this, I had tried during my preliminary visit to Scotland. Furthermore, I suggest trying, also, the other with the cheese and pasta in it(something like baked spaghetti with white cheese sauce in a pie). I don’t remember what it’s called, though. Both delicious! I would recommend sampling it from a traditional oven, especially if he is in a provincial town.
- Scones
It is for the Scottish bread made from flour, barley or oats and sprinkled with sugar. Periodically, they add a glaze on top. These, usually, accompany the tea, and the Scots love them. I had tried it with sugar, and it was delicious.
- Scotch beef
Don’t forget trying some dish with meat. If, in fact, it is the variety of Aberdeen Angus Scotch beef, then you will enjoy the excellent meat of the most superior quality.
- Shortbread
In addition to the scones, a smart idea is to accompany your tea with these cookies. Made from Scottish butter and sugar Demerara, which contains fewer calories than the white and is suggested for those who opt for more natural products. Finally, Scotland is famous for its seafood, especially salmon, scallops, lobster.
Note: Don’t leave without trying the excellent Scottish whiskey. If you visit a distillery, it will be given to you whiskey!
